Gigi is a female, black American
bear. Gigi was 6 months old when she was confiscated from a bar in
North Houston. She was addicted to alcohol, cigarettes and hard
liquor.
She was kept in a 2' X 2' X 4' cage she could not even lie down. The
cage had a slot in it to drop food through. She was very
malnourished when she was brought to the Refuge because she was
mainly feed chips and peanuts. She did not have a proper diet.
Gigi went through terrible pain caused by the withdrawal from her
addictions and she was just a baby! Monique saw the young bear
through many days and long nights of withdrawal symptoms in her home
on the Refuge grounds.
